CHINNI

James R. Chinni P.E. is the President and Principal Engineer at Engineering Answers.  He has more than 30 years of progressive engineering experience with design, application, manufacturing and testing of safety systems, including seat belts, airbags, crash sensors and child restraints.  For more than 15 years, Mr. Chinni contributed engineering insight to vehicular crash litigation claims, as a consulting expert and as a corporate representative.  

 

Mr. Chinni held Director level positions in Engineering, Quality and at a crash test laboratory.  Throughout his time in industry and private practice, he developed expertise in crashworthiness, compliance and warnings, complementing his design experience.  He has inspected and analyzed thousands of vehicle crashes in the field and in the laboratory, including passenger cars, medium and heavy trucks, buses, off-highway work machines, electric vehicles, child restraint systems, utility vehicles and race cars.

 

Mr. Chinni earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Master’s Degree from Purdue University, both in Mechanical Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, practicing in Indiana.

GARRET
CHINNI

Garret J. Chinni is a Project Engineer at Engineering Answers. He has engineering experience in the manufacturing and testing of safety systems, automated manufacturing, and automotive crash testing.

At Engineering Answers, Garret has developed expertise in traffic crash reconstruction. He has inspected scenes and vehicles, downloaded event data recorders, created 3D scene diagrams, and reconstructed vehicle crashes.  Garret has experience with single unit vehicles in the field, the classroom, and the laboratory.  Prior to Engineering Answers, Garret held technical positions in manufacturing and process engineering and at a crash test laboratory.

Garret earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Bradley University in Mechanical Engineering and a Crash Reconstruction Professional certificate from the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. He has completed over 500 hours of professional training in crash reconstruction and continues to add to this total. In 2022 Garret achieved accreditation by ACTAR, the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction.
